Grease Lightning Drive In returns July 23, at 7 p.m.
Greater Toronto Area, July 3, 2014 — Downtown Markham announced this week the return of the much anticipated drive-in theatre. This mid-week family feature welcomes movie lovers from around the Greater Toronto Area to join in some nostalgic fun.
On Wednesday, July 23, Downtown Markham invites the community to relive the fun with a FREE Drive In. This family friendly community event will begin with a Grease-inspired sock hop dance party, complete with ’50s music, prizes for the best costumes, edible treats and more. An airing of the original Grease feature film is scheduled for half past dusk, at 9 p.m. More details about the event and the screening can be found at www.downtownmarkham.ca/drivein and remember, “It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's what you do with your dancin' shoes.”
“Downtown Markham is thrilled to bring the drive-in theatre experience back for a second showing,” says Evelynn Ratcliffe, Retail Marketing for Downtown Markham at The Remington Group. “We’re also excited to add the costume theme party component.”
The event, which officially kicks off at 7 p.m., offers FREE admission and FREE parking. Prizes will be available to attendees in costumes and food truck fare is available for purchase. For those in the community who live close by or wish to come via public transit, bring a chair and blanket as a seating area will be available.
