In an effort to find environmentally-friendly energy solutions, The Remington Group has formed a partnership with SunEdison to develop and construct rooftop solar photovoltaic projects.
"The Remington Group is committed to finding solutions to environmental issues," said Christopher Bratty, President of the Remington Group. “Green energy has been and will be a key focus for Remington.”
SunEdison will be building approximately 14 photovoltaic solar energy systems with a total capacity of 3 MW. They will be hosted at The Remington Group’s facilities but will be financed, built, owned, operated, monitored and maintained by SunEdison. The produced energy will be purchased by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) as per the terms of the Feed-in Tariff Program (FIT) of Ontario.
All of the systems will be installed in the Greater Toronto Area. They will commence operation by the summer of the year 2010. The solar systems will produce enough energy to offset around 42,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, which equals removing more than 9,000 vehicles from roads each year.
